  1. Everything seems to be workinf fine on it. I was a little leary of a refurbished product, but all seems well so far. I spent a lot of time researching the features that I wanted as I am going to be writing a couple of books. It was really important to me to have the touch screen as well as the mic as I have essential tremors and it makes typing very difficult some days. So far so good. I was also able to adjust the sensitivity of the keyboard so I don’t make so many mistakes when I shake as I type as well. Great product, seller, and price.

  2. “Great for new laptop user’s”..is what I’d say if that quote didn’t annoy and make me cringe…let me elucidate. This computer is great for someone that wants a laptop for basic needs. It is spacious, sleek…blah blah. But, as I own…many laptops and am a tech dork, I will say..if you are an artist… spend more, if you are a gamer…spend more..If you are a programmer…I shouldn’t have to tell you…and get a laptop more specific to your needs. I shouldn’t need to say it, but for new laptop users just an fyi. Buuut, if you’re in uni and need a laptop for assignments… this is one hell of a deal and I would take this price for this laptop in the bat of on eye.

  3. This was a very good laptop while it was functional. I used it for gaming, for movies, for just about every purpose a computer is used for. Then, five months later, the laptop would not charge. It wouldn’t turn on with or without the battery. I bought 3 separate power adapters and none of them would work. I basically spent 300 dollars to use it for 5 months. Now I am debating whether or not to simply purchase a desktop from another, more reliable brand. I have been a loyal HP customer since my early years in college, but now I will probably never buy another HP product ever again.Update (3/1/2018):I took this laptop to my local computer repair store. Apparently, after only five months of light usage, the laptop’s motherboard is dead. My technician now requires a new motherboard, which will only add to the cost of keeping this laptop alive. The current tally for repair costs is around $300, which is approximately what this laptop cost me in the first place. I’ve already bought a desktop to replace it, but I have no choice but to go along with the repairs, as I’ve grown fond of the laptop. Still, I’ve essentially paid for a $600 laptop.I suppose that’s the price you pay for buying a refurbished HP laptop.

  4. If I could give this laptop from Tristar Electronics less than one star than I certainly would. The laptop arrived and looked to be in terrific condition. However, once I turned it on I found out that it had major issues. It kept stalling out anytime that I tried to click on anything. It was like this immediately leading me to conclude that it had not been checked out. You would think that when you buy something that is certified refurbished that it would work.I contacted TriStar and they replied that I should perform a factory reset. In order to do that on a laptop that freezes and won’t let you past the log on screen then I would need to borrow a laptop, download the files from MS, buy either a thumb drive or cd and hopefully that will work.I feel that it is unreasonable to be asked to spend more money on something that should have worked out of the box.I asked what type of compensation, such as refunding the price of the thumb drive, that TriStar would offer and they told me to apply for a refund from Amazon. If you buy this laptop be prepared that customer service from TriStar is awful.

  5. Quite a decent system and considerable upgrade over my old laptop. As a refurb, there are a few oddities to be expected, but this time around the only oddity noticed was the software load which quite obviously was not factory (I don’t know where their software came from, but the provided drivers were Spanish version, among other little oddities here and there). Obviously, the first things I did were to replace the 1TB HDD with one of my spare SSDs, then install Win10 Pro (Home does little for me with the types of things I do). Now that I’ve finished upgrading and installation, this system is pretty much guaranteed to do exactly what I expect for years to come. Recommended for those who need a variety of functions and like the convenience of touch screen capability, but even with the additional processing power that comes with multi-core CPUs it may not be a best-fit for gaming without considerable investment in hardware upgrades. Also, bear in mind that while the HP specs for this model list DDR3L SODIMM RAM, the DDR4-17000 listed in the Maintenance & Service Guide is accurate per what is installed (max capacity 16GB).
