  1. Tiny but powerful! Got it for my 11 year old son for Christmas in place of the Gopro 5. The LCD screen is clear and has a touch screen. Very easy to use.My son absolutely LOVES this camera. He was skeptical at first because of the brand. We took it to the pool and got some amazing high quality 4K videos! As a photographer I’m quite impressed with the quality. I love the different lens options. The color is true to life which is very important in digital imaging.I have a few negative remarks related to the Yi App:1. Live mode disconnects when he was underwater. We were afraid it cut off, but it does continue to record.2. The app has some great features, but it was hard to figure out how to save the videos on his iPad. He has to send them to himself via iMessage in order to post on Instagram or Facebook. He gave up after a while.3. Also, you have to connect to the camera’s wifi and go through the record option to access the gallery of videos. Kind of a pain. This is also related to the app. Maybe there’s a way to save them directly, and we haven’t figured it out yet.Otherwise this camera does everything the GoPro can do for half the cost! We are looking forward to getting outdoors and filming our adventures thanks to the Yi 4K action camera. My son keeps thanking me for this gift which means he’s happy and that’s all that matters!

  2. I’d give this camera just above 4 stars. The camera arrived quickly and in excellent condition. No blemishes etc. The touch screen looks bright and clear with no dead pixels and it responds to touch commands quickly. My buddy owns a new version of a different brand of action camera (the big name), and he is jealous now. Half the cost and a touch screen to boot. 4k looks amazing, as does the other resolutions. My only warning, do not stray from the ā€¯approved/supported memory list”. I bought a 64gb lexar 1800x microSD thinking that it could only be better to have 1800x over the listed/supported 1000x. But better isn’t always better. I got multiple SD card read errors, no SD card errors and about half of my files were corrupted from strange reboots and freezes. I replaced this card with one on the supported media page, SanDisk, and all is well again. So read the supported media page and don’t stray. You’ll have a 5stars experience

  3. I got this in Aug 2016 and aside from a BT pairing issue, loved it. Ignored the issue until late Feb 2017 and out of the blue decided to ask to tech support if there was a fix to the issue. Cannot imagine that I would get such great assistance. In a a slew of emails in a day. They decided that I got a defective unit and gave me a replacement. Hats off to Tyler & Duy in Tech Support for their excellent service to their customers.

  4. So far so good! It’s extremely well-reviewed on here and on the web. The one thing I want to add is that YES, it’s perfectly capable of doing low-light and no-light long-exposure photography and time lapses. It can shoot single or time-lapse (interval) stills at up to a 30-second exposure & a high auto ISO. The results are a bit noisy, but you will get stars and a mediocre Milky Way in a pure-dark sky. With a tiny bit of ambient light — city night scenes &c — its 30″ exposures will light up everything perfectly well and without inordinate noise. Its in-camera video-mode timelapses (as opposed to stills) are excellent, but you can’t do super-long exposures in video mode. It can shoot grainy videos in near-dark environments when set to the highest ISO, but it needs *some* light in video mode. In short, it’s not going to replace a DSLR for low-light photography, but it’s perfectly capable of getting images at night.Another thing I didn’t see mentioned on Amazon is exactly which SD card the with-card version ships with. Mine shipped with a 32-gigabyte Sandisk Industrial brand SD card installed. The Industrial series gets good reviews; it’s been plenty fast for me so far.I love the fact that the Yi has a standard 1/4″ tripod screw hole in the bottom. That was a selling point for me over the GP5, which is all slick and svelte but can’t attach to anything unless you encase it in a big ugly frame. The Yi also livestreams to Youtube with no trouble — straight from the camera to any wifi. You have to initiate the stream using the Yi app on your phone, but then it passes the stream off to local wifi.I’ve seen some reviews say that the video stabilization on the Yi doesn’t do much. I disagree. It won’t make a handlebar-mounted dirtbike video silky smooth, but it smooths normal jitters nicely without too much cropping. And the FOV is already so wide, I don’t mind some crop.Oh, and battery life! It’s better than advertised. Everyone says it’s 2 hours and change (which is already more than the GP5B). Maybe it’s 2 hrs of live video, but I’ve done a dozen timelapses with it and, at a 5-second interval, it’s lasted 3 hours every time.Ditto customer service. I had one teeny problem and they responded quickly with a replacement part. Top-notch.At half the price of the GP5B? No contest. Buy it.
