  1. I bought the Acer Spin 7 after returning a Yoga 710 with a defective fan that sounded like an airplane turbine from the instant you hit the power button (first laptop I have returned in over 20 years of buying laptops!). My impressions after 2 weeks of use are largely positive. It is REALLY thin and REALLY light, but definitely not as pretty as the Yoga series. The Dolby sound is okay, and what I appreciate most is that there is no fan, so it operates completely silently. The biggest downside is the measly 2 USB ports, one of which is monopolized for the power adapter. Just stupid. That means if I have it plugged in (which I usually do in my home office), I have to choose between plugging in an external DVD-ROM or a memory key, or charging my phone or mp3 player. Why? There’s plenty of room on the other side of the laptop, where there’s a completely unnecessary 1 1/2″ long volume control. There are also volume controls on the keyboard function keys. So, kind of disappointing external design.PROS:No fan noise, everExtremely light and thinExcellent keyboardNice bright screenGreat battery life (6-8 hours, generally)Processor is fine for work tasks (Office, internet, watching video)CONS:The exterior is a huge fingerprint magnetOnly 2 USB ports, and one is used for the power adapter (what???)Unnecessary volume control on side that could have been used for 2 more USB portsDesign is blah and looks cheapHuge touchpad means you end up touching it accidentally–a lot–so the cursor jumps around when typing

  2. I bough this to watch movies in my truck(I work as a parking lot attendant twice a year during carnivals) and have a portable computer I could carry back and forth from my accounting job. For those purposes it works great. I gave it 4 stars because of the deceptive labeling from Intel on the processor which is no fault of Acer’s. A layman would not realize it’s a mobile version of the processor. That being said, the computer’s performance thus far has been excellent and I have not been able to find any programs that bog it down. The boot time is around 5 seconds and the login screen is immediately reaponsive. The price was good on the device at $699. Other reviewers are not kidding when they say it is a fingerprint magnet. Normal handling will make you think “my skin isn’t that oily is it!?”. I can overlooks the fingerprint issue because the machine performs so well. I would recommend it to a friend.

  3. Love this thin, light, 14″ and great laptop.Don’t waste your money on Apple.I bought couple of this for my travel people as well.

  4. extremely thin very light. great laptop
