  1. I wanted to give this 3 stars, but I have to admit I have a bias. I began with Witcher 3, and then trickled down to Witcher 2. To those that are doing the same, it will be very very frustrating to adjust to the even clunkier combat, and the stiff character interaction. Geralt’s personality is more sullen and dry in the second game, and without the graphics to back it up, it leaves you with a little disappointment. As usual of the Witcher series, you have to force yourself to play a while before you start enjoying yourself. I’d recommend this game for people with plenty of time and patience. It’s not Dark Souls, but it sure as heck isn’t Fallout either, the story might take a while before it grasps your attention.

  2. I’m sure this is a great game in itself, but I got spoiled playing the Witcher 3 first, then tried to go backward to play this. The playing dynamics are just too archaic for me. It just doesn’t compare. Still, a great game.

  3. Okay let me start by saying the game in general was awesome it was fun and it had an awesome story. Now down to the nitty gritty. First off the game is short, maybe 12 hours if you rush it i beat it in 15 hours and doesnt have much replay value. I completed 99% of the the quest given on the path I chose. Fighting gets repetitive and it’s easy( i played on normal only died five times on a few “boss” fights). I will play again tho so i can see what i missed on the other questline ( i dont think i missed much). With that being said the story is great. A few twists and turns throughout makes it worth while. It’s really interesting and enertaining. Grafics are awesome considering it’s on 360 when it was made for pc. A few glitches here and there but nothing too major. Overall 4 out of 5 just because i was hoping it was a bit longer. Still a worth while purchase. BE WARNED THERE IS NUDITY AND SEX SCENES IN THIS GAME.

  4. It was absolutely intriguing. This was a game I was very happy to play through. This setting was superb, and the gameplay was agreeable. However, I will speak on something I was not fond of. There is a character, Triss, that loves the character you play as, Geralt. I even read Triss’s character page and it read, “She loves Geralt and wants more than anything for him to choose her” or something. So I got to know Triss, and I liked her. The voice actress portraying her was a good choice, she has a very sweet voice, and her character design is different than most women, as she has a unique hairstyle. Also, they give her good dialogue and she feels like a real person, as is the case with many characters in this game. So, anyway, there are whores in the game that you can have sex with, but I never had sex with any of them or did anything with any women in the game. I was hoping that there would be a dialogue option to tell Triss, “I choose you,” but, there wasn’t. Nothing happens. At all. So for me I felt like there was no payoff for being faithful to Triss…Anyway, a lot of the quests in this game are pretty interesting. I really have no complaints when it comes to the setting and story and what not. Except that I would have liked more options at some parts to choose what happens. So storywise and setting was pretty solid.Combat was pretty lame in some parts of the game. After you get the hang of it, it is decent, but nothing special. It just doesn’t feel satisfying enough, and it sucks when you leave a village and immediately a giant scorpion will just kill you in a few hits. And enemies always try to outnumber you and then you have to try and roll around and separate them a bit so you even have a chance to get some offense in. So the combat is acceptable, but by no means is it good. The map was not the most cooperative, and sometimes I was not sure where to go or how to get to the next section. Also there were several quests that I did not know how to finish and ended up skipping them unfortunately.A downside is how the game is fairly linear and has a beginning, a middle, and then an end, and that is it. There are no other game modes than Story, and after completing the story I haven’t touched this game since. Well, I tried to play through it again, but after 10 minutes I stopped. Most games I do not like replaying the Story. After hearing the same dialogue a second time, it loses the appeal. And in a game where you level up, going back to level 1 and getting killed easily is just not fun and leveling up again is not at all fun.So I give this game a 4/5 for the reasons above. But this is a review of the game itself, if I was comparing it to other RPGs, this is better. It’s not really something you can compare to games like Skyrim, as that scratches a different itch, but for me, as RPGs go, this is certainly one of the best on the Xbox 360.

  5. After playing the masterpiece that is Witcher 3 a while ago, I came back to play the Witcher series in order. The old PC version was unplayable (terrible fight mechanics), so I ended up watching a YouTube montage of all of the cut scenes from that game, which was better than slogging through all that mouse clicking. Witcher 2, though of course not as polished as 3, holds up nicely and is still worth playing through, even now. The story and characters and immersive open environment, as well as how seamlessly your decisions impact gameplay makes for a fun, fairly fluid experience. I do recommend the silver box version to keep the load times down, especially if you play on the hard or dark settings, where you may die a lot early on.
