I’ll let you know how they hold it a year or so down the line. I own Manfrotto and PBL Light-stands so I have a point of reference for quality. One thing to note, is that the pivots on these stands are rivets instead of bolts and washers. It may be possible to drill them out and add bolts (Like the PBL stands). This seems like the only probable point of failure on the stands.

  2. This stand are very good looking, Medium duty to heavy duty stands, I am not a fan of the rivet connections at the bottom as they make it feel a little flimsy. But in reality its not the case. I use it with Neewer LED square lights that pretty heavy , and it holds well. Another example if you were to use a neewer c-300 strobe light, it would be no problems for these stands. deferentially purchasing 2 more. Keep in mind they have a spring action between the tubes. If putting it away you have to tighten the locks to keep down.

  3. Strong and sturdy. We’ll have no problem trusting this stand with our more expensive monolights. I like the wide stance … if you spread the legs out completely, the distance between the feet is 38″, so it’s pretty stable. Much better than the cheaper stands costing just a few dollars less. Well worth the additional few bucks to get much better stands. See the photo showing the cheaper (black) stand next to it. Other reviewers have noted the rivets on the cross support as a possible point of failure, and I agree with that. But, since these are going to pretty much stay in the studio and not be lugged around much, I’m not very concerned about it – I still give it 5 stars because of the price.

  4. the 114″ is a bit misleading, in order to have a stable platform you need to have the legs spread out as far as they will go which then gives you a height of 103″ top stud included so roughly 8 1/2 feet. i like that there are no plastic parts at least visibly, the rivets don’t bother me i have light stands that are 20 years old and never had a problem with the rivets. all in all i’m happy with the purchase at least initially, we’ll see how they hold up over time

  5. I liked these so much that I bought a second set. Great stands. The only problem I had is that one of the hand-tightening screws was bent during shipping. I was able to unbend it enough to work, but would have preferred it not to be bent on arrival. I didn’t feel the need to modify these at all. The rivets that hold on the parts are similarly designed to a Broncolor stand that I purchased used that was built in the 70’s I think and it’s still going strong, so I don’t expect any issues with these.
