  1. Level design is awesome, they did a great job remixing old stages and adding new ones. The feel is perfect, it builds on the feel of the old games without breaking it.The look and sound is great too. The pixel look is never broken (with authentic-looking sprite rotation and everything) but it feels upgraded, animations have way more frames so things look super smooth. The sound design is awesome here too, they found just the right blend of modern sound without taking away from the Genesis feel. Super nerds will be able to tell that it’s a step above the Genesis’s synthesis, but it doesn’t get away from the feel of old games. Game music has better stereo separation and overall seems to sparkle a bit more, it benefits more than you’d think to play on a nice sound system, and audio fans will really like that. A lot of care was put into making it “classic but better.”The statue and collectors’ edition pieces aren’t world class in terms of quality, but at this price I think it’s fair. The ‘pins’ on the Genesis cartridge are a sticker that seems like it’d come off of mine fairly easily. The paintwork on the Sonic figure isn’t the best, but it works. The switches on the Genesis part don’t feel so good though, I probably won’t flip them too much as I’m not sure how well they’ll hold up. The whole thing is still a cool display though, and it’s definitely worth it at $70.I haven’t played too far into it yet, but this is the first good Sonic game in at least 15 years. Anybody should get it.

  2.  Don’t get me wrong, the thing is nice. I knew that it didn’t come with a physical cartridge which isn’t why I took off any stars.Upon arrival, the statue had big clunks heard inside when taking it off the packaging box. I thought it strange, but went ahead and put batteries in as they where not included, which isn’t an issue. When attempting to switch the power button to get the iconic “SEGA” sound, nothing happened.I saw that many other people have gone through similar things. After opening up the console with the screws at the bottom, Figured exactly what the problem was. This was a counterweight which had been glued with what seems to be hot glue. everything inside moved around which the big counterweight took out some cables that lead from the battery to the on board chip as well as from the chip to the power switch.I had to at this point, get a soldering iron and solder back the cables correctly as well as properly attached the counterweight to where it is located after removing the hot glue that was left behind.I have attached some pictures which show the insides of this as well as the other things included, but I’m glad that I was able to fix something like this in 10 minutes. One thing to note that I found curious is that the LED that shows if it’s powered on or not, doesn’t work. I do believe this is for every one sold, but when I opened it up, it does show they used an actual LED as well as the on-board chip also having the solder points to be use with it. I haven’t tested it since I don’t have extra cable/wire I do find it curious as the power switch does feel like a two step switch. Either it can use this as one powering on the LED and the next producing the “SEGA” sound or it just turns on when the sound comes through. ( I have also attached pictures of that)After all said and done, The outside color, shape, and other things are great. The one thing that was the best by far, was the actual ring that is made of metal. The game itself, is wonderful. The game goes back to the 2-D Sonic games with remixed soundtracks that make you feel very nostalgic. I would definitely recommend the game by far, even if you don’t get the collectors edition.

  3. There is just SO MUCH LOVE for classic Sonic in this game and the collector’s edition is the bomb.First, the game:You can choose to play as Sonic and Tails, just Sonic, just Tails, or Knuckles, just like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so you can play as whoever you like the best with relative ease. There’s a WHOLE LOT of stuff that calls back to almost all of the classic Sonic games as well as some of the more obscure ones like Dr. Robotniks mean bean machine and even Sonic the Fighters. The gameplay is exactly how you remember it and it’s just a blast!Second, the collector’s stuff:The statue of Sonic on the Genesis it comes with is BEAUTIFUL. I have yet to pop some batteries in and try out the sound, but I’m sure it’s exactly what I think it is. It also came with a cool collectible metal cars thing and a very well made ring replica in a feaux Genesis cart. Like, seriously, it’s pretty heavy and it seems like it’s durable and it’s just really cool.I could not be happier with the game or the collector’s items. I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it!

  4.  If you’ve been a longtime sonic fan, this is the ultimate collection for you. The figurine is pretty big (about 12″ tall) and the Genesis is the size of the original system, so it looks awesome! The ring has a heavy solid feel to it so it doesn’t feel cheap, and using the old cartridge design as the carrying case is a fantastic throwback! The metal card is just another fun little collectors item to hold onto.Extremely happy with the purchase to show off my nerd status. 🤓

  5. If you are a long time Sonic fan this is a must-have! The collector’s edition comes with a classic Sonic figurine, a collector edition ring, a collectors edition metal card and the digital code for Sonic Mania. The figure is pretty high quality; if you add batteries (AA not included), and move the switch on the figure, the replica console will sing that classic SEGAAA we all know and love. The ring that is held inside a replica cartridge (which does not work in an actual Sega Genesis, unfortunately) is nicely made along with the collector’s card. Sonic Mania is arguably one of the best sonic games to date. Not only do we get to play the classics, but we also get to experience the reimagined stages with the music remixed and it’s honestly the best thing.
